Poetry Day #30
Today marks the last day for NaPoWriMo2020 which I have thoroughly enjoyed! So much so that I intend to keep writing. It may be poems, it be stories, or just thoughts or observances – hard to say, but it is a creative release that I find I need.
Our prompt for today was to write about something that returns.
Haiku
Sometimes things come back
Use care when you are wishing
They may knock you out
Boomerangs
All to often good things are gone
In the blink of an eye
The blooms of the daffodils
And colorful tulips fade quickly
Our time with the people
We love moves ever so quickly
Be barely get started before
Day to day realities beckon
We love our brief time
With ducklings and goslings
And look forward to next
Year’s season of birth
We hope and pray that some things
Never darken our doorstep again
Cancer, abusive relationships
We wish them good riddance and mean it
Yet sometimes it is those things that
Come back, when we least expect
Them and they hit us
Like a boomerang
