One of the many things wrong with our government.............in yesterday's Champaign Urbana News Gazette there was an article from the AP about a family trying to circumnavigate the globe in a sail boat. A couple with a one year old and a three year old..........

The one year old comes down with a fever and a rash and is not responding to medication, the boat was not functioning properly - they don't say what was wrong. So the "sailors" ping the US Coast Guard and they send the USS Vandegrift out and the California Air National Guard dispatches a team of rescuers who parachute into the water.........this seems a little dramatic and like a colossal waste of time and money for a sick kid.

I understand that I sound heartless -- but this couple needs to make better parenting choices -- if you decide to go around the world in a boat maybe you should get a babysitter -- but don't call the fucking Coast Guard, Navy and Air National Guard to come out to care for one sick kid.............

Does anyone have any idea how many children could have been given a day's worth of food if food banks had been given the money that was spent on that goat rope??? We have tens of thousands of kids in this country - not to mention any other country -- who are food insecure -- for those of you living under a rock, that means they don't know where their next meal is coming from............and the US spends all this damn money on one sick kid, that is parented by a couple of douche bags that apparently don't need to work, and make poor parenting choices on top of that.........the least they should do is write a check to cover every penny that expedition cost those entities -- To go ahead and name names - it was Charlotte and Eric Kaufman from San Diego ---- Charlotte and Eric -- you two are a couple of self serving pricks -- pay the government back and go home. You left San Diego and broke down 900 miles off the Mexican coast - apparently you can't sail worth a damn -- go to a lake and practice some more.
