Poetry Day #9
Today we are prompted to write a concrete poem – that is one that takes on the “shape” of the poem. It seems that I wrote one on Day 4 – I was all excited about it, and my brother-in-law even commented that it was a good concrete poem. I thought he just meant it was “solid”! This makes writing poems so much more fun – learning on the fly – I know nothing about what I am doing, it just seemed a good challenge to get the words out of my head this month!
Each day a diamond
Take something good from today
Hope for love and peace
DUCKS ON A POND
Each day brings new
challenges in a world no
longer normal in the usual sense.
Sleep comes easily, a natural
defense from the outside turmoil
I try to hit the floor every morning in
a positive way, looking for the good in
anything and everything I see, yet I struggle
I worry about my sister and my brother on the
front line of a pandemic that we really know
nothing about and it scares us. We are
vulnerable and nothing is harder
than that on the human psyche
So I find joy each day by simply
watching a pair of mallard
ducks floating under the
waterfall on our pond.
