Poetry Day #17
Our prompt today was to write a poem about a forgotten piece of technology.
HAIKU
I have been bossy
From the beginning of time
Was it obvious?
Phoning for Help
It is one of my earliest and most favorite memories
Arriving at my grandparent’s home and settling in
Granny never batted an eye
She would unplug a phone from the wall
Handing over a phonebook
They had multiple phones
It was over the top
There were rotary dials and push buttons
Trim line and square and wall mounted
In red, avocado green, beige and yellow
Rotary dials were by far my favorite
I would flip open the yellow pages
And start dialing
Calling every business I could
Trying in vain
To find my husband a job
Explaining that he only spoke Spanish
And his name was Goofy
