NaPoWriMo Day #14

Poetry Day #14

Today our prompt was to think about our inspirations and poets/poems we love that inspire us to write poetry. I do have to give credit to Andrew, who introduced me to NaPoWriMo, and whose poetry I do love. But I really know nothing about poetry or why I am even expressing myself in this format –I sort of enjoy it and I am learning quite a few things!

Haiku

It seems very wrong

To call this thing a poem

I’m just clearing thoughts

The Audacity

When knowledge does not go beyond

Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein

It does not seem fair to saddle anyone

With the label of my inspiration

People should expect better for themselves

Instead blame the voices in my head

For the fact that I sit down to write

Everyday the need to empty my brain

Is what drives me to embarrass myself

My jumble of words set out for anyone to see
